EDGES
Why I chose the theme of Edges.
I chose this theme because i enjoy taking pictures of different types of edges.I thought of corners and just simple things such as a table, chair, or even post stick notes which have a lot of different edges when you layer them on top of each other. The word edges suggest that its the whole photo of an object or something such a building.

I really liked these images because they caught my eye and they was images that looked like they didn't have any edges but they had a lot of them. The photographer has explored these images because he/she has took a big interest in all different kind of ways to take images in the photographs, and in the images theres a lot of different edges that you wouldn't even realise that was there. In these images I can see all sorts of different edges, curved edges and straight edges. These images give me a really good idea on edges because I now know that I can take any sort of images and know there is a edge in it.
Initial ideas
- colour the background of the pictures black/white to draw attention to the edges of the notes
- stick mini post stick notes along the side of a wall and take photos.
- take photos of the post notes in different arrangements.
- different sizes of them in different orders.
I like the idea of using Post It notes because I can use a different range of ways to display them, They can look different because of the way the images are taken. The lighting is different in all the images even though they are the same post stick notes they can be muddled up and arranged differently. These images are all very different because the images are taken from different angles and the lighting has a different affect on all the different images I took.
My first set of images
WWWWhat went well in these images is the fact that the lighting was different and the images worked good from the different angles i took the images from.

EBIThese images could of been better if there was a whole different range of images to look at but there wasn't very many, and some of the images look the same, some look very dark.
|
I could refine and develop these images by taking a whole range of images on my camera and taking them in all different places, to make the images look different and unusual, i also could of used the camera in all different angles.
My second set of images
WWWThese images were made by getting a random pack of post it notes, and randomly placing them on top of each other to see the different ways the post it notes looked and was arranged. These images worked well because they was arranged well and the colours really stood out and made an impact on the images.
|
EBIThe images could of been even better if I perfected the photos, and made a lot images then I did and had a range of images to look a and experiment with instead of a few.
|
Refining and developing
WWWWhat went well in the perfecting part of these images, was the fact that I learnt how to make the images stand out and how to make the edges on the images look dead straight instead of dodgy.
|
EBIIt could of been better if i done the lines accurately, and tested different backgrounds instead of just black. I also could of done different experiments instead of just changing the back ground i could of done a different technique with the image.
|
In future projects, I am going to take loads of different images and try different techniques with all the images I done and make them more interesting.

Final outcome
I decided to make a montage of several of my photographs from the trip to see the Lorenzo Vitturi exhibition. I wanted to see what the images would look like when they overlapped with one another. I thought the final image might represent the whole day better rather than just one small part of it. I used Photoshop to make these overlays, experimenting with different blending modes and then enlarging the images so they appeared even more abstract.
WWWI chose four images from the set of images that i took whilst visiting London. I placed the images into photoshop and layered the images on top of each other.I added an effect on them by flattening the four images together. I then divided the picture into four sections and printed each piece A3 size.

EBImy final piece would of been better if i done the same image but a multiple of times with different effects, and make the images look different.
